Hawk Hill Farm Update – September 8, 2015

We are in the process of registering Hawk Hill barn, a 1870’s barn in the 45-acre farm, on the State Register of Historic Places.

In addition, WLT had the opportunity to interview Russ Kelly, a descendant of the Hawk Hill Farm when it was owned by the Kelly family, about the history of the farm and barn.

Save the Barn Tag Sale – September 19, 2015

The Wintonbury Land Trust will hold a tag sale on Saturday, September 19th from 9-4 p.m. at approximately 22 Duncaster Road, Bloomfield (the recently purchased Hawk Hill Farm).

Proceeds from the sale will go toward the restoration of the 1870’s barn which the Land Trust acquired when it bought Hawk Hill Farm this spring. The Land Trust raised nearly $650,000 in grants for the purchase of the 45-acre farm, but now must raise an additional $60,000 from the community to restore the barn. WLT has a farmer who needs the barn restored by December for her highland cattle.

The rain date is Sunday, September 20th.
