The Lisa Lane FarmĀ
The Wintonbury Land Trust together with the Town of Bloomfield are
raising $300,000 for the purchase of this active 10 acre urban farm in
the midst of the most densely populated census tract in Bloomfield
that provides local food and access to community gardens. It will
include perimeter trails through woodland habitat and, in conjunction
with the public high school, an opportunity for hands-on VoAg
education. The CT State DEP has granted $195,000 and $37,000 has been
raised from foundations and private donors. More information »
Stout’s Fields
The Wintonbury Land Trust is half way to its goal of raising $325,000
for the preservation of Stout’s field, thirteen acres of grassland
abutting Penwood State Park and the Metacomet Trail, recently
designated a National Scenic Trail. The land provides neighborhood
access to Penwood Park; and is a link in proposed trail from town
center to Penwood as well as a key piece of the wildlife corridor. More information »
The Barn at Thrall Farm
A twelve acre tract in Windsor, CT owned by the Wintonbury Land Trust
needs restoration of its barn. Once sitting in a plain of shade
tobacco, now surrounded by office buildings, two acres have been
returned to active farming and a walking rail cut with funding from
Hamilton Sundstrand. More information »
