3rd Annual Over-the-Hill Hike – October 24, 2015

Enjoy the lovely fall foliage Saturday, October 24 on a hike from Bloomfield to Simsbury co-sponsored by the Wintonbury and Simsbury Land Trusts and Bloomfield Leisure Services. Along with the scenery, the hike will showcase several recent WLT and SLT acquisitions that provide town-to-town trail connectivity linking through Penwood State Park.

The hike will start at 9:00 a.m. at the 1834 Oliver Filley House in LaSalette Park (on Mountain Avenue in Bloomfield). From there, we will walk through the Wintonbury Land Trust’s most recent acquisition, Hawk Hill Farm, and then on to Stout Family Fields, which abuts Penwood State Park. We will take a rest stop in Penwood, visiting Lake Louise and The Pinnacle.

On the Simsbury side, we will follow an old cart path down the mountain through the Simsbury Land Trust’s most recent acquisition, Tanager Hill, then walk through the Owen Mortimer parcel and end at the Drake Hill Flower Bridge. We anticipate finishing at approximately 1:00 p.m. Bloomfield Leisure Services will provide a shuttle bus in Simsbury to take hikers back to Bloomfield.
