Wine & Dine Fundraiser – April 29, 2017 (Register by April 25)

We’re planning delicious dinner party menus. We’ve had fun selecting the wines. Great local restaurants and cooks are donating appetizers and desserts. Live jazz and an “informal chic” dress code will set the mood. And a growing list of door prizes will add to the fun. Now we just need … you!

Please join the Wintonbury Land Trust for an evening of toasts, good cheer, and gourmet delights at our annual Wine & Dine dinner:

  • 5:00 – 6:00: Meet and Greet at the picturesque Wintonbury Hills Golf course for tasty appetizers, a glass of wine, and friendly conversation. (You don’t drink wine? Not to worry. There’ll be a cash bar, too.)
  • 6:00 – 8:30: Move on to savor a Home-Cooked Dinner in an intimate group setting at one of our nearby volunteer hosts’ homes.
  • 8:30 ’till the music stops: Return to Wintonbury Hills for a Sweet Feast of delectable goodies, special dessert wines, live jazz, door prizes … and continue that conversation started over dinner!

This is the Wintonbury Land Trust’s major fundraiser. Proceeds support operational expenses from the substantial insurance on all that acreage to the modest post office box, and special projects such as community education events and acquiring new parcels. Your participation helps us preserve, improve, protect, and conserve natural resources for the benefit of our community today and for future generations.

Registrations are due by April 25th to reserve your spot. Print your registration form and mail it with a check for $95 per person.  Final details and directions will be emailed once we receive your check. If you have questions, contact us at wine&dine@wintonburylandtrust.org or 860.242.1105.

Earth Day: Come Hike with Us – April 22, 2017

Celebrate Earth Day with the Wintonbury Land Trust by exploring Bloomfield’s western ridge line on Saturday, April 22, from 9:30 a.m. to approximately 12:00 p.m. Perfect for individuals, families, and leashed dogs looking for a nice hike. There will be great views from the ridgeline and an opportunity learn more about the Land Trust from board members.

The hike will begin and end in the parking lot of the Town of Bloomfield’s Wilcox Park (71 Hoskins Road, Bloomfield). We’ll walk through the park’s meadow and trails to access the Metacomet Trail, part of the New England National Scenic Trail. This will bring us along a portion of Talcott Mountain before looping back to the park. It will be approximately 2.5 miles, rated moderately difficult. Free, no registration required, and no rain date scheduled.
