Toast their harvest with cocktails hand-crafted by Waypoint Spirits’ mixologists, and taste Autumn’s bounty with hors d’oeuvres prepared by Seabury’s chefs. Lisa Lane Farm Harvest Celebration – September 24, 2016

lisa lanePlease join us to celebrate all the improvements at Lisa Lane Farm on Saturday, September 24th from 1-3 PM. It will be an afternoon of games, demonstrations, trail walks and an opportunity to see the new community gardens. As in the past, we will have great raffle gifts, and there will be free ice cream and other treats for all ages. Thanks to the new greenhouse, there will be no need for a rain date—we will just move inside.

Farmington River Cleanup – September 24, 2016

tsuki-jen-scrub-rocksThe Farmington River Watershed Association’s River Cleanup and Connecticut River Watershed Council’s Source-to-Sea Cleanup bring together volunteers throughout the watershed to maintain water quality, improve wildlife habitat, and sustain healthy recreation.

On  Saturday, September 24 from 10-12pm, the Wintonbury Land Trust will host a local clean-up in Bloomfield’s Farmington River Park. Join friends and neighbors to help remove litter from the trails and riverbank. Long pants, long sleeves, and footwear for mud are recommended. Garbage bags and gloves will be provided. A free picnic lunch will be available at the Farmington River Watershed Association in Simsbury.

Please come help prepare the community gardens and trail on Saturday, work daySeptember 10, 10 AM-1 PM for the Lisa Lane Harvest Celebration. We will be spreading mulch, trimming trees, shrubs and grass, marking trails and weeding garden aisles and beds, as well as doing some minor planting. You will need work clothing, including strong shoes and gloves. We will provide some equipment, but wheel barrows, loppers and hoes will be appreciated. If you haven’t been to the farm recently, you will get to see the changes in this town project firsthand and enjoy a few hours working with like-minded community boosters.
